Feindschaft als soziale Nahbeziehung im antiken Israel
Feindschaft ist eine grundlegende, wenngleich oft unterschätzte soziale Nahbeziehung. Wie kann sie methodisch und theoretisch differenziert historisch erfasst werden? Für das antike Israel lässt sich zeigen, dass in Erzählungen, rechtlichen Normen, Lebenslehren, Gebeten und prophetischen Texten jeweils unterschiedliche Facetten von Feindschaft thematisiert werden. Die Quellen (im wesentlichen Texte der Hebräischen Bibel) werden unter Einbeziehung von Konzepten der Spiel-, Kommunikations- und Organisationstheorie, Soziologie und Ethnologie analysiert, der Befund in einer umfassenderen Phänomenologie der Feindschaft verortet. Dabei wird deutlich: Feindschaft ist nicht identisch mit Konflikt. Feindschaft unterscheidet sich von Freundschaft darin, dass sie auf eine reale oder ideelle dritte Größe bezogen ist und Reziprozität der Beziehung nicht konstitutiv voraussetzt. Feindschaft tangiert die sozialen Netzwerke der Beteiligten und Betroffenen.
Personal enmity in ancient Israel
Enmity is a basic, if largely ignored social relation between individuals. Which methods and theories allow an adequate historical analysis of enmity? In the case of ancient Israelite society it can be shown that different aspects of enmity are articulated in narrative and legal texts, wisdom literature, prayers and prophetic texts. The sources, esp. texts of the Hebrew Bible, are examined in dialogue with communication theory, organization theory, sociology, social anthropology and mathematical theory of games, and discussed in the frame of a phenomenology of enmity. „Enmity“ and „conflict“ are different concepts. Compared with friendship, enmity needs a real or ideal third as focus, and reciprocity is not essential. Enmity also involves the social networks of the individuals involved.
